GIO

Please note that California does not currently have a formerly established Geospatial Information Office (GIO). This page was put up at the request of the acting State CIO, Clark Kelso, in anticipation of the day when this might become a reality. The California Resources Agency's CERES Program attempts to act in this capacity to the extent resources and opportunity permits and with the help and cooperation of the many state agencies that have invested in this important technology.
 Vision
Public and private sectors working together to develop, acquire, maintain and share geospatial resources for the protection of public health, safety and property, and to promote a quality environment and a vibrant economy.
 Mission
The mission of the California Geospatial Information Office is to lead and coordinate the development, licensing and sharing of geospatial data by state government agencies. The GIO will work with the California GIS Council to sponsor an integrated State Geospatial Data Service that will define the data architecture, systems, standards, and processes and coordinate the availability of geospatial data used by state agencies.
